Information for Rotary Clubs involved with Rotary Youth Exchange

What is the commitment for a Rotary Club to be involved with Rotary Youth Exchange?

In District 5495, we encourage every Rotary Club to be involved with Rotary Youth Exchange.  We offer a few different levels of involvement.

Hosting Inbound Students

For a club to host an Inbound student, the club must appoint a Counselor, must secure host families (with help from Outbound students), and must commit to paying $500 (per student, per year) to the district Youth Exchange committee, plus $100/month to the inbound student.

Sponsoring Outbound Students

For a club to sponsor an Outbound student, the club should appoint a club Youth Exchange Officer who will commit to interview the candidate before the district interviews (held in November) and to keep in touch with the student while he or she is abroad, and commit to paying $500 (per student, per year) to the district Youth Exchange committee.

Clubs that deal with multiple students should appoint one club Youth Exchange Officer, to have oversight of the program for the club, plus one Counselor for each inbound student.

For clubs that cannot commit to sponsoring or hosting a student, they can still be involved.  We ask every club to pay at least $250 to the district Youth Exchange Committee each year.
